‘Architecture Schools Must Burn’ was the title of my talk yesterday at the end of a two-day international conference in Malmo, Sweden; a two-day event that brought together a half-dozen or so deans of architecture school around the world to address the theme of ‘positive’ schools of architecture. My focus: the need for architectural schools thoughout the world to wake up and address huge changes in how architcts, designers and other professionals work today within increasingly globalised, and industialized, media and communication technologies. Odile Deq, Peter Cook, Christine Hawley, Lars Lerup, Bill Macdonald and others; well looked after by our brilliant hosts at the Lund Institute of Technology, outside Malmo. A brief detour through Copenhagen, on the way back to London today.
